Now that it’s November, we’re officially allowed to get festive – and the team at Bertie’s are super-excited about Christmas. At this time of year, we all like a little drink or two, so we’ve been prepping our bars in anticipation of our thirsty guests! We’ve also persuaded our Bar Supervisor to share with us the recipe for Bertie’s most popular cocktail, the Pornstar Martini.
If you haven’t heard yet, we’ve been having a revamp at Bertie’s and we now have elegant new bars in our Cocktail Lounge and the Crystal Ballroom. The Art Deco style bars and their stylish lighting inspired us to give our drinks menus a makeover too – so we’ve updated our wine list, curated a new selection of beers and have refined our cocktails.
Wine is an essential part of the dining experience at Bertie’s, and we’ve recently tested a range of wines to create a varied, delicious, but affordable menu. What’s more, the team have organised the wines on the menu into helpful groups – such as ‘smooth & soft’, ‘rich & complex’ and ‘crisp & fresh’ – making sure that you choose the perfect wine for you.
There are so many good-quality lagers and ales on the market now that it’s quite hard to choose which range to stock. We’ve gone for a mixture of old favourites and some craft ales to ensure there’s something for everyone:
- Brooklyn Lager – amber gold, smooth and refreshing
- Carlsberg – premium-strength, full-flavoured lager
- Shed Head – American pale ale
- San Miguel – pale blonde Spanish pilsner style lager
- Somersby – original apple cider.
Our team of bar staff have been enjoying serving our new cocktail list, which includes the Pornstar Martini, a Strawberry Bellini and the Mojito. Ross Holroyd is our Bar Supervisor and tells us that the most requested cocktail is the Pornstar Martini.
Once you’ve tried one, it’s not hard to see why the Pornstar Martini is such a hit. Fruity, fresh and very drinkable, it’s a sophisticated modern classic that we finish with a slice of passion fruit and caramelised sugar on top. It is served with a shot of Prosecco, with the idea being that you sip the fizz alongside the Martini, wow, what’s not to love! Here’s the recipe from Ross:
